I have been working on happyplace.net and its predecessor Happy One since 1983. It's long been my dream to live in a world full of happy people - so full that you can not turn a corner without bumping into someone with a smile on their face. I hope happyplace.net can become a community of sincere, trustworthy, lighthearted humans who care about their own happiness and are willing to share their joy with others. Certainly an undeniable force. I am perfectly at ease with the naysayers who will call me a pipe-dreamer. I love you anyhow.
Interestingly, humans do not have to "become" happy - being happy is our natural state. Bear with me for a little story here.
The teacher asked the little girl if she could make a statue of an elephant. Without a moments hesitation, the little girl said "of course I can" - sort of surprised, the teacher inquired "how would you do that?" The response - "I would take a big block of granite and chip away all the pieces that were not an elephant." Darling answer. She knew the elephant was inside all the time - all she had to do was chip away the pieces that kept you from seeing it. Happy is the same as the elephant, it is there all the time, we just have to chip away the unhappy and all that's left is happiness. In kind of an odd twist, it turns out, the path to happiness begins when we first decide to stop being unhappy, i.e.: when we start to chip away each unhappy feeling.
We are dedicated to growing happyplace.net to serve the needs of those who have subscribed to the newsletter. Not sure what all those needs are at this moment but we continue to study every aspect of the subject.
Crusade
My years of probing into the subject of happiness have led me to believe it is time for a major change on the planet - led by the Happiness Crusade. I have prepared a statement concerning it and have placed it here - Happiness Crusade. After you have read it, I will appreciate any feedback comments you would care to share.
